What is ear wax impaction?

There are several causes of reduction or loss of hearing, ear wax impaction is one of them

Eax wax is made up of long chain fatty acids both unsaturated and saturated, this is a common component of our everyday meals. Other contents of ear wax are cholesterol, dead skin cells and hairs.

Accumulated ear wax can lead to a medical condition known as impacted ear wax, symptoms include
Loss or hearing in one or both ears, here the ear wax has literally become a solid block. Attempts to remove this at home is usually very painful and very difficult if not impossible

Prevention is key to preventing ear wax impaction, regularly cleaning the ear canal with a q-tip is important since the components are found in the foods we eat daily
If ear wax becomes impacted, then you would need to see your doctor for manual dis-impaction, in this case a medical technique is utilized to dis-impact and remove wax from the canal
